Roadworks in St Helens as United Utilities installs new sewer

St Helens residents are being warned about an upcoming road closure along Crank Road to allow United Utilities to enhance its wastewater network, which may cause some disruption to journeys.

Work to install 420m of new sewer between Fairfield Independent Hospital and Berringtons Lane will begin on Tuesday, 4th July. This requires the closure of Crank Road between these locations, with a signed diversion in place.

The diversion routes are:

  • Rainford Road - B5203 - Church Rd - B5205 - Higher Lane - Diversion End
  • Rainford Road - E Lancashire Road - A571 - Carr Mill Road - Rainford Rd (B5205) - Back Lane - Diversion End

The work is expected to take between 8 to 10 weeks to complete, and may involve some work out of hours.

United Utilities is working closely with Fairfield Independent Hospital, local residents and businesses, and St Helens Borough Council, to ensure disruption is minimised where possible.
